WE ARE ALL RESPONSIBLE FOR GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE

You may not drive a Hummer or blast your AC all summer long, but you inevitably contribute to the emissions that are wreaking havoc on our climate. The US represents 5% of the world’s population, but we produce 25% of the world’s carbon emissions that are responsible for causing global climate change. We cannot continue on our current path of energy use without catastrophic consequences for our planet. We must do everything we can to reduce our energy consumption and our carbon emissions. As individuals, we can affect change. We must take action to change our lifestyles and to educate our friends and neighbors. Our future hangs in the balance.

Our Mission

Treasureourplanet.org is committed to encouraging individuals to pledge to take specific steps to significantly reduce their use of fossil fuels and to recruit others to do the same, with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

We aim to spread a culture of responsibility, awareness, and action around the issue of global climate change.

What is now plain is that the emission of greenhouse gases . . . is causing global warming at a rate that began as significant, has become alarming and is simply unsustainable in the long-term. And by long-term I do not mean centuries ahead. I mean within the lifetime of my children certainly; and possibly within my own. And by unsustainable, I do not mean a phenomenon causing problems of adjustment.
