We are a small grassroots organization started with the conviction that we must educate individuals and homeowners in the US about their role and responsibility in reducing energy use and carbon emissions. We hope you will join us, spread the word, and do as much as you possibly can to reduce your individual carbon emissions, to enact change within your local community and region, and to mitigate catastrophic change to our climate.

I have spoken with many people about my idea, but I would like to thank especially the following friends and family for their tireless help, advice, expertise, and considerable talent in getting this idea launched into a reality:
Ron Gregory, website designer
Chris and Esther Pullman, graphic designers
Jonathan Coravos, help on research and writing
George, George and Sofia, for advice and support
To read more, start with this book:
Elizabeth Kolbert, Field Notes from a Catastrophe. And if you want to read further:/
Jim Flannery, The Weather Makers is also excellent.
Al Gore’s movie “An Inconvenient Truth” (now out on DVD), if you haven’t already seen it, is an excellent place to start (there is also a very good book of the same name.)
MISSION STATEMENT
Treasureourplanet.org is committed to encouraging individuals to pledge to take specific steps to significantly reduce their use of fossil fuels and to recruit others to do the same, with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
We aim to spread a culture of responsibility, awareness, and action around the issue of global climate change.
